The Argument from Answered Prayers
1. Sometimes people pray to God for good fortune,
and, against enormous odds, their calls are answered. (For example, a parent
prays for the life of her dying child, and the child recovers.)
2. The odds that the beneficial event will happen
are enormously slim (from 1).
3. The odds that the prayer would have been
followed by recovery out of sheer chance are extremely small (from 2).
4. The prayer could only have been followed by
the recovery if God listened to it and made it come true. There is some
footnotes to be made:
-”first deserve, then desire”; one must have by
good karma or godly activities deserved God’s intervention.
-Even godly souls seem to suffer to remind us
that this material world is the prison of the spiritual world; we shouldn’t
make our home here. Godly souls actually don’t suffer; they are absorbed in
thinking of God and the heavenly pleasures, thus they are aloof.
-Also, godly souls suffer to protect religion and
bewilder the atheists; this material world is the playground of fallen angels
trying to be imitation gods. If religious people are too obviously favoured,
then God’s existence is too clear and atheists will flock to the churches and
temples for praying for wealth, health and other material advantages, which are
not the goal of religion. The goal of religion is unconditional service to God.
5. God exists.
Argument from mantra or prayer
1. Pray for something.
2. Is that something in God's Divine Plan or
karma?
3. If yes, prayer is glorification of God; He may
change His mind and improve His plan.
4. If no, prayer is pleasing to God; He can
change His Divine plan. For free actors there is no fixed future.
5. Either way, through prayer one comes closer to
understand who is God and His will.
6. God fulfils the desire of His devotee
according to what they ask from Him and what they deserve.
7. Mantras or prayers are invoking God's power to
heal.
8. Dr Mrs.Shivani is a living example that one
can be cured of many illnesses through mantra healing without going to a
professional doctor or therapist. E.g.
by reciting mantras and placing her hand above Pramod's head, she made Pramod
not only experience an invigorating feeling of well-being but even his frequent
headaches reduced considerably. (Testimony of Ms. Manju Gupta. Editorial
Coordinator, Organizer Weekly)
9. Mantras are the verses of the Vedic
literature, written by the incarnation of God.
10. Healing by sound was also discovered by
Raymond Rife.
11. God, Whose Name is a mantra, Who empowers the
mantras, Who gave the mantras and Who reciprocates with the chanters of the
mantras, exists.
Argument from amputees (1)
1. There are reports of
miracles of re-grown body parts.
2. Some examples are:
Christ was said to have healed the "maimed" (which in the Greek meant
those who had lost limbs). St. Augustine was said to have restored various
amputated body parts. St. Attalus restored a man's dismembered thumb. St. John
Damascene was involved with the re-growing of a person's hand. St. Anthony of
Padua caused the re-growing of a man's foot. St. Francis of Paula caused a
baby's eyes to grow back. Miguel Juan Pellicier's amputated leg grew back after
holy oil was rubbed on the stump. Smith Wigglesworth was reported to re-grow
someone's leg with prayer, A.A. Allen to re-grow a deformed baby's limbs, and
again Allen Todd Benetly re-grew someone’s lost eye."
3. All who could witness
these miracles and those who did see the end result became convinced about the
power of prayers and the reciprocation and mercy of God to who the prayers were
directed.
4. Therefore, God exists.
Argument from amputees
(2)
1. There are many reports
of miracles.
2. Atheist: "But
there has never been a report of any miracle where an amputee suddenly, quickly
re-grows a lost body part."
2a. Even slow recovery
e.g. of an eye or a whole leg just by prayers is really a miracle.
3. There were never
recoveries of these organs without prayers to God or His power.
Doctors could never heal an amputee.
4. That means the object
of prayers or God does exist and that’s why He can reciprocate with His
devotees to recover the amputees.
5. Therefore, God exists.
The Argument from
Miracles
1. Miracles are events
that violate the laws of nature.
2. Miracles can be
explained only by a force that has the power of suspending the laws of nature
for the purpose of making its presence known or changing the course of human
history (from 1).
3. Only God has the power
and the purpose to carry out miracles (from 2).
4. We have a multitude of
written and oral reports of miracles. (In- deed, every major religion is
founded on a list of miracles.)
5. Human testimony would
be useless if it were not, in the majority of cases, veridical.
6. The best explanation
for why there are so many reports testifying to the same thing is that the
reports are true (from 5).
7. The best explanation
for the multitudinous reports of miracles is that miracles have indeed occurred
(from 6).
8. God exists (from 3 and
7)
The Argument from Holy
Books
1. There are numerous
holy books and scrolls and doctrines and revelations that all claim to reveal
the word of God. And they are mutually compatible. They give rules and
revelations according to time, place and circumstances.
1a. Jesus is the personal
savior for the desert nomads in the Middle East. He ordered them, otherwise how
would they stick to Him.
1b. Similarly, God made a
covenant with the Jews requiring every Jew to keep the commandments of the
Torah.
1c. Muhammad was Allah’s
last prophet for the desert nomads a little distance from there, also to keep
the sheep flocks save under a shepherd.
1d. The resurrected
prophet Moroni dictated the Book of Mormon to Joseph Smith to give another type
of humans a way to God.
1e. Ahura Mazda, the
benevolent Creator, is at cosmic war with the malevolent Angra Mainyu, since
God wants Heaven on Earth.
1f. In this way there is
the science of theology at different levels, just as there is the science of
mathematics for kindergarten, primary school, college, MA, Phd and professors.
2. These words of God are
truths; the moral rules if followed give Heaven on Earth.
3. The word of God thus
reveals the existence of God; the perfect authority or lawgiver. Also, the holy
books are perfect in describing the seen; cosmology, social system, psychology
etc. Thus the Unseen, God and heaven, the holy books describes is also true.
4. God exists.
